Cumbria County Council selects DCS
Cumbria County Council selects DCS as supplier for digital mailroom
01st August, 2016, Data Capture Solutions (DCS), Slough Trading Estate.
As a part of a wider digital transformation strategy and an imminent office move Cumbria County Council has selected DCS to deliver a digital mailroom solution. The council plans the new premises to be a “model council office” showcasing the new digital way of working. The council was looking for a supplier to automate processing of incoming mail and feed into the larger electronic document and records management system.
DCS was chosen via the Crown Commercial Services (CCS) framework. Paul Stafford, Programme Manager at Cumbria County Council said that “It was easier to source through the CCS framework as the due diligence to shortlist suppliers had already been done.” DCS was chosen as they were able to provide a suitable quote based on their experience of working with other councils.
DCS will provide a complete digital mailroom solution to help the council scan all incoming mail and direct it to a centralised virtual pigeon hole. Recipients will be notified via email about their mail which they can then access online, forward to another person or move to a shared folder, SharePoint or other line of business applications. For the first time the council will have a complete log of all incoming post which will help them action mail faster, analyse communications, improve communication with public and provide a better service. It will also enable secure access and availability for remote workers.
